Whew - - Friday was a BIG day

Yesterday was one crazy fun day. I volunteered in Natalee's class to help make gingerbread dough for the gingerbread people they were going to make. OK I probably should back up - Since school begin Natalee's  teacher MJ has Gingerbread man that was his mom's (she was also a K teacher) - well this Gingerbread man has been taking adventures at school when it is empty. The students return in the morning to find that the Gingerbread man has left their classroom, they had to go looking for him - they found him in the Principal's office, the Lunch Room, The Counselors office, the Maintenance Room and also the Media Center. Natalee's class learned how to walk probably in the hallway when they went looking for him and they also meet someone important people. The kid's loved it and remembered all those places and people. During this time they also read stories on the Gingerbread man, drew pictures of him, etc etc. So on Friday they learned how to make Gingerbread dough, which was a great lesson in reading, math and science. They loved it. In the afternoon they rolled out the Gingerbread men and baked them. They got to taste their creation and bring it home. Friday's are also Fruit/Veg Friday - where a classmate brings in a fruit or vegetable they like to share with the class. Yesterday they had pomegranates - some kid's like them - Natalee DID NOT!! The end of the school day was Fit Friday - once month they have an activity to encourage children and parents to have an active lifestyle. This Friday they learned about football through various football drills. As first my girl WAS NOT interested but once mommy started doing the drills she has second thoughts. Then I couldn't get her to stop!! Not that I tried very hard. To finish off the day - we had dinner at the Thai Garden in UNCG campus then went to Tate St Coffee Shop to hear the keyboard teacher from her school play acoustical musical. It was like a grade school reunion in that coffee shop. The kids were having a blast running around, talking and playing while the adults drank coffee/tea and listened to the great music of Tony Low.
