The last 7 days of school for Natalee has gone really well. We have had some bumps in the road, one day she had a very traumatic/dramatic morning and screamed the entire drive time to school. That was fun driving in highway traffic!! She claim all sorts things about not wanting to go to school, actually what it boiled down to was the fact that she choose not to wear socks but changed her mind on the drive to school. Sorry - it sucks to make choose and regret them later. The teachers had to almost peel her off of me. And as much as I tried not to have her outburst affect me it did. It took some time for me to regain my composure - while I was doing that in the foyer of school - I got a hug from a fellow mom, and her teacher found me to see if she really needed socks or just made a decision she regretted, he also gave me a hug. Then later that day he sent me an email telling me she was having a great morning.
Outside of that the kids have a Gingerbread Man and boy and girl that "live" in their classroom, how they have been very sneaky and taking off to the classroom next door, the principals office, cafeteria and various other locations. The children then had to go find the Gingerbread man, meet people in that location and learn how to probably walk in the school. What a fun way and memorial way to learn these lessons. On Friday her class will be backing Gingerbread people - I can't wait to help out. So far we are all enjoying her new school. Let's hope we continue to do so.
