Well I am happy to say that Devanuia has been moved to a step down unit this past weekend. She still has a trach in, however they are gradually weaning her. She has sat up in bed about 3 times yesterday and even stood for 1 minute with the assistance of a walker and PT. OT has also started working with her on with personal grooming skills. It is astonishing how many skills one looses the longer they are in the ICU. The muscles in our body start atrophying in just 24 hours of no movement.
On the positive side they working on finding a place for her in the Rehab Unit at Cone in Greensboro. So keep you fingers crossed that all works out quickly so that both my brother and SIL can get back to Greensboro. It's been a long month for everyone.
