going to the farm

This week was our turn to drive down to the farm to pick up the milk for our co-op. Actually it's more than milk, it's yogurt, cream, butter, meat, eggs, syrup, crackers, etc. Just about anything - even produce. So last night - when Nat was going to bed - we talked about what we were going to do today. First go to Mommy and Munchkin's - my exercise class - her playtime with her "bud's", then drive down the the farm, aka the barn to pick up milk. She was so excited. It does help that for the past month or so we have been reading Farmyard Tales - one of my Usborne books - so she was excited to see the barn, cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, horses, she also thought she'd see Poppy and Sam both characters in the story. Well at anyrate she was so excited that she woke up in the middle of the night talking about the barn, cows, pigs, etc. Then when it came time to leave for Mommy and Munchkin's she started talking about the barn going to the barn, I explained after Mommy and Munchkin's we go to the barn. She had fun at Mommy and Munchkin's - we got in the car to drive down the Yoder Grassfeed Meats - our farmer - we were on the road maybe 5 minutes and she said barn, barn. I said it's a long drive - hour and half before we get to barn. We had a good trip down. Found the farm, it is set in the beautiful hilly countryside of NE Ohio - near Wooster. In fact I love the town name, it's called Apple Creek.

We picked up our products, and stopped to see the cows and pigs on the way out. She was so excited - good thing we both had Wellies on, it was quite muddy. We walked back and forth between looking at the pigs, and the cows. She preferred the standing cows to the ones laying down. (meaning she would walk up closer to the fence if they were standing - go figure. With the laying down cows - she said the "cows resting". Too funny. So we set out for the drop off location in Lakewood. We got there - unload the car - and Natalee became quite upset - "mommy's milk" "mommy's milk" over and over. She was crying and crying because we were removing the milk crates with the milk and food products to the garage to load in the refrigerator. Both Jonathon and I tried to explain what was going on - but she wasn't having any of it. She sobbed all the way home - and even when we got into the house - she put her head on the bench by the garage door and sobbed and sobbed - "mommy's milk, mommy's milk" - I said we had our milk - but apparently she figured everything that was put in the back of the wagon was ours. Too funny. I finally had to pick her and love her - we did some puzzles and she felt better.
